If choose to use a marker: Load the Marker: Clicker or happy tone "yes" "yip" etc.
Make it 2 distinct actions
Mark then the treat appears
Create a Target Spot
Feed your dog once or more times a day this week on the target spot and bring it with you to class. We are creating excitement for the spot. Use a new mat, blanket, elevated cot, etc. Something you think your dog will like laying upon.

Catch a Behavior (Sit)s and Downs
Walk around your home and pause; when your dog offers to sit or laydown, reward. Practice this week as much as possible. The key is to wait for the offered behavior, do not ask. (Tip: hold treats at your belly button with hands clasped. (If your dog jumps walk away and try again.)

Even if your dog knows the word sit this is a fun exercise to catch behaviors offered. It is a great way to teach down as well. Catch a down (behind and elbows on the ground).
Catching eye Contact
This week, keep your dog's kibble or treats in your pocket. Throughout the day, every time you see your dog check-in and look at you mark with your mark noise and give a treat.
Catching Relaxation
Station food around the house or carry kibble in a pocket. Whenever you see your dog relaxed place a piece of kibble down between their paws and walk away. You could add a word if you want like good calm then walk away. Ignore your dog in the beginning if he/she comes for more. They will start to realize treats appear for calmness offered everywhere.
Gotcha
Gotcha is useful for a number of reasons. To keep your dog coming toward you when you out stretch your hand vs backing away. A great handling skill so dogs are not uncomfortable with the grab of a collar or harness. Alto teaching puppies to come away when needed.

Let's Go: Horizontal Leash Pressure
Teach your dog to move with you and away from a distraction. The leash is frequently used too much as a way to move dogs. The leash isn't meant to be used to drag dogs, jerk dogs, etc., but instead as a safety measure so dogs cannot roam too far. This exercise teaches your dog to move into a specific direction when horizonal leash pressure (not a pull) is applied. Then use your happy voice to praise and reward your dog.
