Shawna Dowd is a Karen Pryor Certified Training Partner, currently one of only two Certified Behavior Consultants in the state of Idaho, and the only Fear Free Certified Trainer in Idaho. A transplant from out of state, she has settled and made her home in Eagle. She has been training dogs for 12 years now, and works solely with aggression and reactivity cases. She takes her commitment to utilizing the most up to date science and methods very seriously. Her ongoing education includes multiple conferences throughout the nation, webinars on pertinent subjects and online classes with peer review and instructor feedback. Shawna has also had the pleasure of serving on the Board of Directors for the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC) and, more locally, Meridian Canine Rescue. She occasionally serves an expert witness in dog bite cases.
Shawna’s business, Alliance Dog Training, provides private, one-on-one training with aggression and reactivity cases. These cases range from leash and barrier aggression to dog and human aggression. We also offer reactive dog classes, which teach strategies and skills to address the most common issues seen with reactive dogs. This class is great for bonding with your dog and building confidence on both ends of the leash!
I am allowed to live in my house by my three dogs: Gracie, a 14 year old Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix, my heart dog and the love of my life; Temperance, an 11 year old Heeler mix who taught me all about puppies and having realistic expectations with them; and Sir Nubbins, a 1 year old mini Aussie who teaches me the art of patience on a daily basis. Temperance and Gracie have both been trained in scent work, agility, and rally obedience. Gracie was put through an extensive behavior modification plan to get us through a very trying period of time where she was aggressive towards everything, including people and other dogs.
When I’m not teaching and helping other people and their dogs, I can be found coloring quietly with a Dutch Bros. on Eagle Island, writing in my journal or walking the youngest of the dogs to get his zoomies out!
Brittni Heywood is a certified Dog Trainer through the Victoria Stilwell Dog Training Academy. She was born and raised in Idaho where she currently lives with her husband and three dogs. She continues to educate herself by attending conferences featuring renowned speakers on several topics including behavior work, dog fitness and play group dynamics. She loves working out how to help dog owners help their furry family members.
Brittni offers a Fitness Foundation class to teach you to help strengthen your dog, prevent injuries, teach body awareness and boost their confidence.
A professional educator in my day job, I have been working and playing with all kinds of dogs for over a decade, and I train and compete in multiple companion dog events successfully with my own dogs.
I am an approved CGC Evaluator for the American Kennel Club and can provide training and testing for Puppy S.T.A.R., Canine Good Citizen, Community Canine (the Advanced CGC Title), Urban CGC and the AKC Trick Dog program.
I am an active member of the Idaho Capital City Kennel Club, the Lizard Butte Kennel Club, and Boise Agility Runners and Climbers (BARC), and I regularly volunteer with each of these organizations. I have held several board and officer positions with BARC. I frequently serve as Trial Chair for local AKC, USDAA and NADAC agility trials through these clubs. I have judged agility and obedience for 4-H youth across the Treasure Valley, and currently serve as the co-superintendent for the Canyon County Fair dog show.
I live with Shetland Sheepdogs, a small herding breed known for their lovable, loyal natures and their aptitude for numerous performance events. From the beginning, I have embraced training that focuses on positive reinforcement and reward-based methods that are mutually enjoyable for dogs and humans. I enjoy working to foster great communication, better understanding, and fantastic teamwork between dogs and their people!
